    Frequently asked questions

    Why does aluminium welding need specialist shops?
    Aluminium dumps heat five times faster than steel, moves more, and hides weld defects under oxide. AC TIG competence and aluminium-specific fixturing are not optional — they are why we select shops for it specifically.
    Will welds show after anodising?
    Filler zones anodise to a different tone — visible on clear, less on black. Where cosmetics matter we plan weld placement, filler choice and finish together at quote stage.
    5052 or 6061 for my part?
    5052 for formed and welded sheet work; 6061 where machining and strength dominate — with weld joints designed for its crack sensitivity. The review states which and why.
    Can you fabricate marine-grade assemblies?
    Yes — 5083/5052 work for salt environments, with appropriate filler selection and finishing, is a standing capability in the network.
    Do you combine sheet with extrusions?
    Routinely — extruded frames with fabricated panels are often lighter, straighter and cheaper than all-sheet builds, and both routes run through the same network.
